compensation: DOE plus tips
employment type: part-time
Seasonal Position: Approximately May 25th – Aug 20th
JOB DESCRIPTION:
AK eXpeditions is looking for a top notch deckhand for the 2020 dipnet fishing season. Alaskan residency required for this fishery. The candidate must be able to present himself or herself in a professional manner, be well spoken, clean cut, and articulate. Having a good sense of humor, upbeat and positive attitude is key in providing our clients with an amazing charter regardless of fishing success. Our charters run at capacity during the peak season and this demands hard work both on and off the water. Deckhands can normally expect to run 2 charters a day throughout the season. On down days, you may wish to explore the area, fish, ride ATVs, hike, or visit, Valdez, McCarthy, or Kennecott Mine, etc. However, it’s possible based on client bookings that you’d pick up additional trips during this time as an opportunity to earn additional money. Candidates that can process fish will be given preference.
This position could lead to a guide/packer position in September at Hunt Camp in the Brooks Range for those interested in pursuing their Professional Hunting Guide License.
Fish camp is on the Copper River adjacent to Wrangell St. Elias National Park in Chitina. Base camp for the guides/deckhands will consist of wall tent with power, camp kitchen and cots.
